Just a quick first post to say hello.

Yesterday I paid for my new toy which I hope to collect next week if I can stick my private plates on retention in time. The car is a black 2005 5.7 but is actualy an 04 model.

I know a couple of members on here and I'll def be asking the usual questions rather than searching

Here's hoping the plates get retained before next weekend or I dnt know if I can cope with the wait.

Congrats, you made the right choice.

I assume it is completely standard? Any thoughts on if it will stay that way?

I plan on getting the remap done. More power = good but does it really improve mpg?

Also is upgrading to 2005 brakes worth while? They are teh same as the 04 vxr?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/monaro-brake-di worth looking at?

Bloody hell, you'd think he'd have cleaned them up a little bit wouldn't you?
I'd hold out for a set of 05 VXR brakes mate.

Brian (Caspy) gets them through regularly as folk upgrade to full on AP's so might be worth crossing his palm with an e-mail to register some interest?

As for mpg, you probably will get a bit better but not a lot and only around 2-3mpg more.

Hello and welcome,

Just for info that ebay link is for standard 04 brakes, the 05 (VZ) series are red in colour and a little larger etc.

Just thought I would let you know anyway.

Cheers
Steven

p.s. if you want MPG don't buy the exhaust system. I got 30MPG on the way down to Monkfish and cannot reproduce it - LOL. The sound is too addictive.

Hi, Michael wavey You are a lucky man indeed. Just watched your profile video. Was it an MR2?
You look like a tall fella like myself. It's things like the shunt that show we need room in a bigger car to survive if some other t_at gets it wrong.

Are you gonna try for October 15th Silverstone on the reserve list? (Bo55?)

thats a possible silverstone but cant be too definite.

You see my main issue is my trade in car has a private plate I am keeping. The quickest way is to put it on retention but this can take up to 4 weeks these days (last year it was done the same day, thats progress)

So unless you know a surefire way I can guarantee my plat is retained (not transferred) and I hve the paperwork by next weekend - I am sure I might just attend that.

Though I am also planning on popping down to brands a week tomorrow to meet damo and nige (know them from the biking side)

I'm not tht tall! The pictures of me were taken in my old local in Dorchester(near oxford) and those two friends were midgets or whatever the PC term for dwarfs is these days.
