Right so I have now received 2 NIPS so far this year. The first for doing 84 in a 70 in Wales in MArch, rushing to get to a wedding on time!! I didnt get the NIP until June as I was in the wifes company car. I sent this back 20 days later (July) and I am yet to hear anything.

SEcond comes through from a mobile camera (on Hogs Back nr Guilford) where I was doing 97 in a 60 rushing to get to another wedding I was late for!! I have sent that back and that was about 4 weeks ago and I have heard nothing.........so any advice opn what is happening?

I ask a "regular offender" at work and he said you usually hear within 1 week of sending the signed NIP back. Anyone offer some experiences here?

On the proviso that you Licence was clear of points prior to your decision to go low flying on the first occasion then you sent back 172 to name driver within the 28 days so you have complied and opened up the avenue for them to offer you a Conditional Offer (60/3). But this seems to be taking a very long time so is there the possibility before they sent it out they checked their evidence and have comne up with a flaw that prevents them taking it further. Fingers crossed could be the case? I dunno.

IF however that Licence of yours is marked with at least 9 points they may have made an enquiry of DVLA, obtained your Driving record, seen the 9 points and instead of CO passed the file for information to be laid for speeding (within 6 months of offence) and summons subsequently issued (after 6 months).

On the second then the news is not good. 97mph in a 60 area is 11 miles over for what a CO can be issued so it will be a summons and trip to Magistrates Court.

Excellent so I am reading fine on the first, f**ked on the second!! Fair enough as it was a stupid speed to be going. Have no points (and never have done) on my licence so just a waiting game now i guess.

Thanks for the advice fella.

If... the current trend of not imposing a short ban for 'maginstrates court' speeds continues, you have a clean licence, take the time to turn up at court, be presentable and very polite, explain how you generally drive very well as per your clean licence, and explain how you made a one off silly mistake and you have already learnt from it and it has not happened again...

My money would actually be on points.
