Fitted my new springs - what a difference

I fitted my new springs yesterday.

What a difference they've made.

I can now drive the car on the "wonderful" Irish roads and not leave the bottom of it behind.

I fitted 9" 375lb springs on the front and 10" 350lb springs on the rear, as rcommended and supplied by Jools at Trackcar Solutions.

I've had to set the ride height at 160mm from the workshop floor to the bottom of the chassis rails to get the car happy.

I'm still making small adjustments to the damping on the AVO shocks to get it spot on, I didn't realise the difference filling the petrol tank to the neck would make.

I'll be getting the tracking, etc sorted during the week once I've finished adjusting everything.


A big thanks to everyone on here who helped with suggestions, spring details, contact info for suppliers, etc as it would have been a total pain in the arse trying to source parts and information over here without all your help.

Great news.

A full tank and a boot full of luggage really does push the back down.

On the way back from France, I crammed 5 boxes of stella on the back seats. Nearly considered dumping the stella as the handling became really dodgy.

Not 100% sure yet.

I'm sorting a workshop manual and we're going to have a look at that.

Major work (if and when it's needed) is going to require a trip to Belfast (about 4 hours).

Routine work will be done here by ourselves I reckon (myself and a couple of mechanic mates who are total petrol heads).

This is what we've done in the past with other cars I've had, in particular an Elise before there was a Lotus dealership in Ireland and a Skyline that the local Nissan dealerships knew nothing about and there were no specialists around.



Any other suggestions?

There's a dealership (Parkgate) and an indi (Torque Flight).

I have no experience of either but have heard the indi is better.
