My dad today decided the cerb should go, now we've got the car running like it should he has come to the decision to go for the more sensible car 
(who could call a tuscan or a 5 litre griff/chim sensible??).
We've had our up's and down's with the car but all round this IS SO MUCH FUN!, if we get another it will be saddening not to hear all those pops and bangs, and see those flames!!
But we are sticking to the TVR name for now on as i think me and my dad have caught the bug

the ECU i wouldn't say was the last straw, we have spent well over a grand already, and now the car is running correctly we think let someone else have the fun, and we should move to another TVR, the chimaera we had before, we only litterally had to buy petrol for and that was it, nothing went wrong!.
But my dad wants a speed 6 tuscan, whilst i love them, i dont like that engine!!
one day, maybe we will have a cerb again......maybe.

Yes, the fault was down to a wobbly spark plug lead! that was giving the car a missfire!
On the way to looking at an ECU the car was only flaming out of one side which suggested fueling, but wasn't it was all down to the lead!.
my uncle came round and had a look and seen the plug lead slightly off, just a quick push on and it was back to life, big relief for me and my dad.
Dad is thinking that the running costs for the cerb are going to be too high for our budget! so we are going backwards to a griff/chim back to the rover burble
but away from the crackles

No Gazzab, the major problem with the car was the cam timing (a proffesional well known garage got the cam timing wrong, and blamed it on the factory giving them the wrong instructions for the cam timing. This was there first cerb they did cam timing on!)after that was sorted we had 3 weeks of hastle free motoring until we had the misfire again (last week), we didnt know what to think, but lots of people (even a TVR garage) said ECU so we thought Oh lets try one, went to try one no difference, but on the way to trying the ECU we was only flaming out of the left exhaust and a freind following us said it could be a problem with the fueling/injectors and we was all thinking the worse, he was saying it could get mega expensive ££££,then yesterday my uncle comes round and see's the lead!.
My dad was rushing round like a mad man, ran through the house got the keys unlocked the garage and went for a drive, you should have seen the smile on his face

I am in a similar boat. I have spent close on 6k (having now had the crank snap in addition to its other faults, costing me 2k) since I got the thing a month ago.
I am between thinking that the car is sorted and should be a keeper and flogging it and cutting my losses before it costs me another few thousand quid.
I expected high running costs but this is a little much.

whatever your dad decides, I hope you continue to keep posting on here, and hopefully meet up again in another TVR whatever it will be, but IMHO you can't beat a cerbera

Thanks Tracey, we will be sticking to TVR for sure, don't think me and my dad could leave TVR now!!
, iv'e posted on the chimaera forum and asked "how loud can a chimaera can be made?" already, and someone posted an excellent video of there chimaera popping and banging through like a cerb so if we get one it's going to be loud!!

oh, I dream of such figures....
And just bare in mind that although 5 litre Griffs/Chims seem sensible, they still cost 3.5K to put right when they go pop, mine lasted four hours and 200 miles after buying it! and it was a private sale, now the car is residing at APM and the engine at TVR Power, so dont get caught like I did. As for the Tuscan been there, done that, never again! Cerb, never let me down.

And you going through the nice QUIET!!! village popping and banging.....YOU NEED A DECAT MISTER
. How to do a similiar run soon because that was very fun.
Doesn't seem to be much interest in the car so far, so you never know we could have it for the long haul.....you never know

I still think your woes on here re misfires plus short term ownership will scare people. Suggest Autotrader for your best bet for a quick sale.
