Newbie standard exhaust wanted and suspension advice 04 VXR
Discussion
Well pulled the trigger and bought Bennnos' 04 VXR, it has a Wortec exhaust which sounds great but will def upset the neighbours and rattle the fillings out of customers teeth when I arrive in their car park. Anyone know where I might be able to lay my hands on a 2nd hand standard system ?
Also interested in a suspension upgrade, have spoken to Monkfish who where v helpful and offered the AVO system which I don't know much about. I have always used Koni/Bilstein in the past, are there any other options I should be considering?
Cheers

I'm sure you'll have a queue of people offering to do a deal on the exhaust with you - I too have an 04 model CV8 with standard exhaust but I'm not entirely convinced its a straight swap with that for an 04 VXR exhaust. Depending on location etc and how soon you wanted to do it then you could have a bidding war for the swap :-)

As BO55 said, have a look and see if the back half of the exhaust has mufflers or whether it's straight through.
Failing that, I may stop procrastinating soon and have a standard exhaust you could buy.

Fit the straight through pipes for a couple of weeks, then neigbours complain, then go back to silencers and they will be happy again.....
Or take up the offer of a swap, but cheeky devils should be offering at least £500 on top of their standard system.
Or speak to Paul at Wortec and ask if he can get his supplier to quieten the silencers with additional packing etc...or if one of his dealers has a system from other car which is to be skipped.
Personally I wouldnt touch the suspension as the VXR suspension is superb and much enhanced over the standard car. Second hand the VXR struts / springs are worth c. £400-£500.
I changed the suspension on a car once with the best koni adjustable dampers and H&R springs and all it did was make it more bouncy - sometimes the manfacturers get it spot on IMHO.
Ben
Could well do, guess I just got used to it after 12 months in a standard CV8 then a VXR.
If you check back in the threads the supercharged car is running a set of extra special Ohlins remote reservoir dampers which are pretty serious bits of kit...
Its probably worth driving an AVO equipped car to see how it feels, mind you Wortec are excellent so its probably an good conversion.

Try LSV as they did my exhaust and I never bothered picking up the old system (why would I want to go quieter!!!). I'm sure others are the same e.g Greens or Monkfish.
Try wortec as my 'old' wortec stainless steel exhaust is available which was brilliant as a daily driver and had the same concerns re clients.
Basically it is a bit louder at idle and not to bad at low revs but once up to 3000rpm with decent headers it roars nicely.. and cruises really quietly.
Changed recently as gone louder as car will no longer be a daily drive

I have it on an o4CV8 but having driven a VXR it would be a good upgrade to do on that too. Not much difference in suspension between the two 'standard' set ups IMO.
