Brief review.

Sunderland parking attendants run by NCP. Usual guff, reporter infiltrated and employed by them.

Various unsavoury practices shown including racism and alleged bribery and lot of foul mouthery.

Mealy mouthed NCP / council, we have no complaints and if any evidence is provided we will take action and report to plod. Might be some PAs bricking it now, though saw far worse on programme about London PAs.

Loopholes nothing we do not know about, e.g. if lines / signs not correct then not enforceable. Local chap, metric martyr man, goes about deliberately parking in areas where signs etc. are wrong to try and get them to ticket him thus creating situation. He has 120 tickets, appears they have not enforced one of them yet.

Seems that when went decriminalised they were given long list of deficiencies which they had to correct and they promised HMG they would correct. Alleged they didn't correct issues, have ticketed left right and centre, now getting round to correcting signing problems in some areas but no recompense to motorists ticketed incorrectly.

Also PAs told in briefings of certain roads where signs etc outwith regs and thus they are not supposed to ticket. Programme was a bit confusing there, seems that in some cases they continue to ticket, others they don't. NCP bloke insisted this was action of single employee.

Owt else I've missed DVD?

Good summary Fif.

I watched in horror. What an organisation and bunch of knuckledraggers.

Typical was the piece that they were ticketing those that parked on taxi rank and surprise, surprise, there was no TRO to cover that.

Poor Sunderland and their footie team is also poor.

Cheers guysbeer It's shocking what they get away with, but I suspect the people in charge simply can't be arsed sorting out the problems when it's so lucrative

Meant to add the metric martyr campaigner bloke is obviously being an utter pain in the arris to them as he and his vehicle reg get a special mention in morning briefings.

PA said "we are not supposed to ticket M3 ***"

:Cpl Jones:
They don't like it up em Capt Mainwaring
:/Cpl Jones:

Associated issue, anyone see the bit about PA's on Fifth gear?

Bloke parks car, pays and displays in windscreen.
PA and Fifth gear bod issue PCN as date is not fully displayed partly obscured by windscreen rubber.
Bloke returns within time paid for, objects and argues his case, politely and articulately. Supervisor called.
Supervisor looks at situation, clearly bloke has paid, supervisor has authority to rip ticket up, declines to do so, ticket stands, bloke must appeal.

Yes DVD, knuckledraggers sums it up perfectly. I just hope that when we get PAs round our way we don't get something similar.

I expect they have a bit of trouble with tickets that slip out of site etc. I prefer the sticky ones you can stick on the window. I also think there should be different fine levels say a fiver if you've actually bought a ticket but it fell out of sight, a tenner if you're just a bit late back and only the full amount if you've blatently not paid.

Balls to that. The tickets most councils use now are date and time coded plus you have to enter part of your reg no. Production of a correctly timed, dated and reg'd ticket should mean no fine at all, not a slap on the wrist.

In that system some people would deliberately hide the ticket in order to create work for the council.

Interesting, what's the betting this is just the ones identifiable from the hidden camera video and they do sweet fanny adams about the endemic problems and culture within the organisation.
