I am taking the wife and the other love of my life the GT3 to Nice at the end of October for a bit of a tour and holiday and would greatly appreciate some input on a good route. I would like to go to Reims and also Montlhéry on the way down (or back), and would also like to do the Millau bridge on my way. So, where should I go, any classy and nice hotels to spend some time at on the way down, and any ideas I should consider?

Milau bridge is a long, long, way from Nice but the autoroute up through there towards Clairmont-Ferand is great. If you 'do' just one road I'd make it the Col D Vence (D2) North out of Vence for 40miles; offers 40 miles of THE VERY BEST ROAD YOU'LL EVER DRIVE. Just amazing, and a big favourite with EVO, so it must be worthy!

Going or coming from Nice get onto N85 Route Napolean, Grasse to Grenoble. Fantastic road, scenery, villages etc etc.

Thanks guys, all useful information. I think a loop is looking the best bet, as there does seem to be a consensus that the middle is worth avoiding. I want to get up into the mountains too, so I can ‘enjoy’ the car with the windows open and the video camera running. Oh the noise
