Depends what you want - i have owned both and prefered the C4S (and i know i am not alone, right Charlie?).
The C4S is an awesome weapon because the suspension control, the braking, and the luxurious interior all conspire to make it a wonderful place to demolish miles and still have fun.
Personally, whilst i do think the 993tt is blisteringly fast and effortlessly torquey i did not find is as involving to drive or as inspiring as a naturally aspirated 993 (of any flavour).

I've never driven a C4S so can only ask from lack of knowledge... how much different do they really feel? They have the same AWD system and the same suspension and brakes. The tt has a beefier gearbox so the engine sits back a bit further and the turbos and associated plumbing add some weight. But do they feel much different behind the wheel? Certainly the engine characteristics and sounds are quite different but I'm asking from a seat of the pants handling/feedback point of view.
I very much like my tt and while I know it isn't the most nimble machine I'm still addicted to that wave of torque that launches the car forward in every gear.
(Hi Pete, sounds like all well!)

Damm, find me a stock Golf GTI that is massively faster than 5.3 to sixty and 171mph...

kayc - if you try to drive a 993 like you would drive a golf gti then you will end up in a ditch, it's a totaly different driving style (which i personally love, but then i like old skool rwd dynamics too, like Capri's and Cobra's)
phelix - very good mate, how's you? the main difference is all down to that power delivery, the C4S feels very urgent because the throttle response is so good and the noise is fantastic (suitably liberated, of course). As regards balance/handling, there's no noticeable difference assuming both cars are in fine fettle (not knackered shocks or dodgy geometry or whatever).
I could have driven my 993tt much faster than my C4S (okay, i did) but the grin was bigger in the C4S at lower speeds, in the same way an E30 M3 is much more fun than an E36 M3 - know what i mean?

It's difficult to argue against the n/a engine sound, absolutely brilliant.
It's funny but yesterday, although I abandonned a full hoon (excess numptitia amongst all that precipatitive juice = automotive puragtory) I still derived a curious wedge of fulfillment from going deliberately, unbelievably slowly.
Giving out on carving up vast legions of peasantry, it was time to indulge in the simple actions of deliberate motoring, no short shifting in sight, all very calm and smooth, revelling in the finery of the precision gearbox and pushing slowly through watersheened corners and soaking up the bite points, almost willing a soft break away which never came, as it happened.
It may have lacked the essential tactility of a rwd variant but the broad spread of peculiarities was enough to keep me entertained and even now, after 7 years, the humble prospect of the most inoffensive run to the workhouse has me thinking, excitedly ahead, just wondering unto what precise level of temptation I will be led?
For me, the Turbo is that kind of car, you will forever be learning the curve, never fully near 10% of it's limit becuase you will most likely never be even 1% fit to mix the drinks or wear the white socks of Messrs Rhorl unt Roser.
Er, Turbo, old bean without a shadow of doubt.

Depends what you want it for. C4S is a bit of barge on track but great on the road. The extra power of the turbo must be nice though, as my C4S feels like it could use another 100bhp (well OK 200bhp)to really fly but is more than adequate for most things day to day. And about £20K cheaper. And a lot more economical.
Mine is a keeper and will acquire a 3.8 conversion and a supercharger soon, although the 9m billet head conversion does appeal too. So I might as well have a bought a tt - I know.

Well to pull markedly away (at least enough to annoy), takes loads more power / performance.
standard C4S - 1450kg and 285bhp = 196.6bhp per tonne.
rs lwf and clutch: -9.1kg
hollow spoke twists: -10.5kg
RSR mufflers: -4kg
100 cell cats: -10kg
odyssey pc925t battery: -10.4kg
wayne schofield live remap (after the cats): +30bhp
becomes - 1406kg and 315bhp = 224bhp per tonne. That sorts out the 'slowness' issue without it looking or sounding very different from stock.
I've so far resisted moving to tt mainly due to the looks of the wide body car without the wing on the back - IMO the best it gets on the 993 and dare I say it, all 911's.

It also looks nifty.
When mine was at the local OPC, parked up next to a new, equally black, 997 with all sorts of Techblingular appendages, I could not help but lust far more for the profile of ye oldie.
Al von Aceshwein is bang on the wonga - nothing can replace it.
Indeed, for aesthetic purity, the mid 90s must have represented a purple patch because my other preferred design and 993tt contemp rival, the F355, was thence born.
As was the TVR Cerbera, which still causes dampness aforethought.
Bloody joy to the world.
