Dr J finally got his car into Spain...cograts. Unfortunatley the coil packed up after about an hour. He managed to replace it with a beatle coil despite it powering twice the number of cylinders at twice the voltage! Horrah to the king of bodgers. IF only the car ran for more than an hour at a time.

I am not sure wich coil pack he was/is running on but I do know VW/Audi have a recall on coil packs. They had alot of failures with them.

We now have a brand spanking new MSD blaster 2 coil back into place after the first one packed up. It works fine on a beatle coil, but I wouldn't recommend it if it isn't necesary. The problem with the coil was my fault as I overtightened the clamp and damaged it. It still lasted about 2345 miles though.

cheers, Dr. J.

p.s. I have now run a whole day without braking down!!! What a car, wow, makes up for everything.
