Mazda Miata seats fit well, have the look of the period, give great support and are cheap. I paid $50. Cdn each for some used ones in great shape. They are way more comfortable than the original leather ones and do not get as hot in the sun. Some even come with headrest stereo speakers. Check out the internet for several websites with instructions on how to install them in Spitfires, MGBs etc
I have been down the seats route .. the problem with wedge seats is that they are very narrow. As Steve Heath has said, it is difficult to get aftermarket seats to fit. not impossible, but difficult.
I had a nice new seat sent to peninsula for me to try. the seat in general was too tall forthe car, and when it came to closing the drivers door, it turned out that the door handle wedge thing obstructed the seat, so if i had wanted it, they would have had to have dropped the floor in the foorwell to accomodate the height, and reshaped the inside of the door panel. not worth the hassle.
I have a quote of £400 ish for full refurbishment... im going to pay the extra and get it done with the origional seats. its less hassle spending the extra money.

I used to have a Sparco club seat which fitted the S with loads of room to spare, Steve Heath fitted it to his wedge later on. I don't think he had to do anything special to the doors/floor to make it fit (although I seem to remember he took the the armrest off later on to clear the cage).
My old Tasmin had a red Cobra bucket in: it was a real pain to climb in and out of, the foam pads kept getting rolled round the frame etc.
A mate of mine has fitted some leather seats from a Rover (200 or 400, I forget which) - they went in on the TVR original runners with only the electric packs removed from underneath.
Bear in mind that as well as being very narrow, the Wedge seats also have very long base cushions: this gives more under-thigh support. The bucket always felt odd to me as my legs were at an odd angle.
