I bough the pads and disc's from www.c3bmw.co.uk very good bunch over there. I'd personally fit them my self so cannot comment on labour costs but i've an indipendent BMW specialist who does all the work on my BMW's > Highams Park Motor Co. 0208-523-3443 who are situated over near epping forrest but this obviously depends on your location within the uk.

Hope this is of any help.

M3John.

How difficult is this to do ? Do you need any special equipment, any problems you came across ??

I would throughly recomend the guys at Highams Park Independent Motor Co. for anyone in the nearby. I have used them for about probably 6 or 7 years and they are great.

front brakes are easy to fit as long as the bolts havn't welded themselves on like mine had...... I replaced brakes all round, front I fitted EBC ones with redstuff pads that I think are good even though I was a little worried they would be too hard.... the rears were off the shelf but not original or performance items and are shockingly worn after around 7kmiles.

Mintex discs with Pagid RS29's, nothing else short of a full AP set up will come close

I have fitted EBC discs on the front of my motor with Yellow stuff pads. I don't much like the pedal feeling but they work well from cold and are intended for track use so when they get hot I am guessing I will get a different pedal feel again with no or little fade. I have the same pads on the rear with standard new discs but it is early days yet and I will have to get a few miles under my belt before I am able to give an accurate assessment. As for fitting, they are simple and even if you are not that way inclined, buy yourself a Haynes manual.

I currently run (on a 97 evo) std (evo) disks all round and ferrodo ds2500 pads. they squeel a bit but breaking performance is very very good for a standardish setup (got braided hoses and racing brake fluid too).
I remember reading somewhere that 911 stoppers (carrera S and turbo calipers and disks from the 993) will go on a e36 m3. does anyone have experience or know anything with regards to this. would make for a much more reasonable (cost wise) big brake conversion.

all comments appreciated.
