The search thingy is down, so I thought I'd drop a post here to get some advice.

Looking to put some speakers in the parcel shelf, and wondered if anyone had done it themselves, or where they went to get this done? Did anyone try 'Halfords' (gasp...!) or have we all gone to specialists to get this done??

All advice welcome!!

I got some advice from Carl Baker of TVRUK who fits audio equipment as well as alarms and he recommended a particular pair which he believes suit the acoustic set up of the Chim. They made quite a difference as I'd already upgraded the front pair and still I couldn't really hear them above 50mph. But now the sound is pretty good, all things considered.

I think I paid around £120-£150 for supply and fit.

Most people suggest a pair of decent 6"x9"'s

I just got a pair of Pioneer speakers from Halfords and fitted them myself in the holes where the vents were.
Spaced the actual speakers into the boot a bit using some large nuts as spacers and then fixed them to the grilles with screw/nuts. In this way the air can still flow into the boot through the speaker grilles. The wires are already connected from the head unit to a block by the n/s door lock (hidden behind the carpet),so just have to connect up to those, no need to run wires to the radio.
I didn't fit huge rear speakers as I don't listen to it at high volume, but the sound does fill the cabin rather more without turning the sound up loud.
Does anyone know if car audio dealers sell signal boosters?
