missing emails

Hi

I've noticed this afternoon a couple of emails that people have replied to have not arrived on my pc. Ive checked webmail (demon) but they are not there either. I got these people to send again and they arrived straight away ....so the original emails are lost somewhere or what????...and how many I dont know about never made it??!!

Maybe trapped in a SPAM filter and destroyed. Does not explain why the second attempt was OK though. Wonderfull thing email!!!

Where do you pick your e-mail up from, a local server or an Internet mailbox?

It's possible (with either) than the mailbox server went down for a short time and the messages were lost, or if everything is correctly setup you'll receive them later on when the orignating mail server tries to resend them.

They came this morning which is strange because meanwhile others were coming through normally!

Sounds like some sort of comms blip occured and your incoming mail has no backup route (secondary server or collecting mailbox), the server trying to send the mail was set to 48 hour re-send, so you had to wait until it retried.
