Well I answered a thread on Pistonheads recently from a researcher for the BBC looking for people who had re-mortgaged their house to pursue a dream, as I fell into the category I replied and spent 4 hours with a film crew yesterday from the beeb.

The program will not be out till 07 & will be on BBC 2 midweek, 90 minute documentary on ‘how rich is Britain’, ten minutes of the program will be devoted to car enthusiasts of which I will fill a 3/4-minute slot, they have over an hour of footage and spent most of my time answering questions from the programme director whilst cleaning the car, funny thing was I cleaned it before they arrived and proceeded to wash it another 3 times, still nice & clean now. They spent time filming in the engine bay, inside the car, down the side, in the boot, into the wheel arches and culminated in me doing two nice burnouts outside my house much to the amusement (not) of my neighbours. LSV got a plug but sadly did not get a chance to plug HSV.org.uk unless they include it from ‘off air’ talk. Was a great chance for me to plug the HSV marque and yes I was wearing an HSV dress shirt. They promised me a DVD of the show before it goes out so I will share it with you when I get it.

you probably owed LSV a plug based on the number of 'free' engine rebuilds they have given you over the last year or so hehe

I smell BBC sensationalist entrapment:

Producers line: "Do a nice burnout for the camera, it'll really illustrate what an enthusiast your are."

Corresponding headline: "Britains re-mortgage-mad crisis breeds another irresponsible road accident waiting to happen! How a simple call to your bank could put you behind the wheel of a high powered death trap!"

Cue burnout footage spliced with an image of little Katie pushing her dolly's pram "apparently" near your roadside.

Ten bucks says the footage never makes it and if Noel Edmund's experience is anything to go by, you better hope your numberplate doesnt make the screen.

When did I get so cynical....

Good & informative comment there, it was my idea to produce a burnout, they really just wanted me getting in & out of the car & parking it which they did.

worth making sure the article is complimentary, as opposed to making you out to be nerdish

burnout was my idea

Heh heh. Fair play, I think Id be the same:

"We just need you getting into the car"
"Ok great, maybe Ive after Ive just done a burnout yeah?"
"Errr..then we could do with a shot of you getting behind the wheel"
"Brilliant! I could get in, drop the clutch and smoke away from the camera yes?!"
"Errmmm I see. And we could do with an artistic shot down the si..."
"Right! With smoke coming out of the wheel arches?! I could start it up for you and show you?! It sounds great!"
"Right! Will someone please get this man's burnout on camera and then get the stand-in owner before the next take...*sigh*"

I wasnt having crack Will, just saying I dont trust the british media.

No offence taken, I expect you are right about British media tho...

Hopefully not being a car prog they are more interested in why someone would take a quarter of theit house equity & put it into a car, they gave me the impression that any money spent would help the British economy despite a lot of parts being imported from Oz, VAT will help on that front no doubt. They were respectful and did not touch on insurance in the interview, not that it matters as my insuranced doubled on declaring mods to that company with a billion pounds profit.

did you sign a consent form for them to use the video footage?

you should have been given one?

demand the right to view before transmission - otherwise they can make any little story they want! there are a lot of little journo '@nkers out to 'get a story'

trust me i know - my other half is a film/tv documentary editor and has to work with them
