Just bought an E39 M5, and the Audi is now up for sale on this very site!

Here are a few pics of the two beasts

Forgive the ignorance but why the switch?

I know everyone bangs on about Beemer driver involvement, etc but against the mighty RS6?

Tragically, I've never driven an RS Audi but I have passengered in a few at VMax days and have never been less than overwhelmed by the package, not dissimilarly to the effect engendered by the big AMG Mercs.

I love my M5 but remain unsure how it sits overall next to the Misanomeister.

Would value your thoughts...

Cheers,

DeR.

Basically after too many years of turbo's and 4wd (scooby and then RS6) I had forgotten the joy of having your right foot inexorably connected to the rear wheels, lag free.

I'd also almost forgotten the sheer enjoyment of being 'involved' with driving.

Yes, the RS6 is a very fast and capable car, but you simply cannot beat the all-encompassing feeling of piloting a well balanced, 400bhp+, manual, N/A, rwd car.

This weekend just gone I rediscovered the sensory thrill of heel-and-toe braking, having to feeeeed the throttle in to balance the exit rather than being able to just stamp on the loud pedal in any conditions or any road type, and discovered that a 1700+kg car *can* have a good ride, wonderful damping control and yet manage to attack a bumpy, narrow b-road like a car half the size and weight.

Until I get around to selling the RS I am very very lucky to have the opportunity to drive them back to back, and I can tell you that the M5 is dynamically on another level. You simpy cannot compare a twin turbo with nearly 2-tonnes of front-loaded weight, 4wd and an auto box, with a car that has 400bhp yet zero-lag, 50/50 weight distribution, rwd, a manual box, and reduced servo on the steering via the sport button.

There *are* many things I prefer about the RS, don't get me wrong it is a great car, but it's just not for me.

Misano makes me go all funny every time I see it. One of the best colours on any car EVER!

Stunning

How do you compare both cars? Drive, delivery power, handling overall thoughts?
