Clutch? Slave or Master?
Discussion
I was my way to work last night, when a mile in to my journey i noticed the peddle suddenly went funny and there was a groaning noise every time i depressed the clutch.I managed to get a further 4 miles before the clutch peddle finally gave up at a set of traffic lights. The peddal went all floppy, couldnt get any gear with the engine running, but could with the engine off and there was a pool of clutch fluid under the car.Ive had a new slave fitted three weeks ago.Is it this again or master cylinder?

The slave cylinder is in the bell housing, the master is the other side of the fire wall from the pedal, if you have fluid under the car I'm afraid its the slave, which means gearbox out time and new clutch!
yep deffo slave had the same with mine twice they have an improved slave cylinder now so ask for that one

It sounds the same as what happened on mine when the slave went I'm afraid. Did you have the clutch or anything else replaced at the same time? Possibly something else is causing addition pressure on the slave causing it to fail so quickly...

See my post above.
It sounds like the release bearing has given up. This would caust the clutch, moving, to rub against the seized bearing, causing the rubbibg sound.
Call who ever did it and tell them to sort it. It must have 28 days warranty, at least.
Call them now.
It's not impossible for the fluid to get to the plates but it's unlikely.
It sounds more like the slave wasn't been fitted properly. You cant go far wrong, but care needs to be taken with the seals and it does need to be tightend down evenly.
Who fitted the slave?
It could even be that all or some of the 4 allen key bolts that hold the slave in place have come loose, causing the slave to become out of position and for you to lose your fluid.

If you can get under the car to have a look, try and see where the fluid is coming from.
It will either be between the bellhousing and Gearbox or there is a little hole at the bottom of the gearbox. (Unless its bad then it'll be coming out of both.)
It might help identify where the fault is!!
