I've noticed that after heavy rain the doors capture a lot of rainwater. It only runs out with the door open and even then I can tell that there is still plenty inside.
Is there anything that can be done to improve the situation ?

Agree with Al. The holes at the bottom of the door become bunged up with crap.

Poke with a wire and then "wobble" the door to get all the water out.

Failure to drain isnt always due to the holes being blocked. Mine are not, and after heavy rain, there is often some water that comes out when you swing the door. It actually collects below the holes, as these are not sited at the lowermost point on the doorskin.

I've seen a few Chim owners (not me!) drill an additional drain hole. If you open the door, near the bottom rearmost end, there is a little "lobe" of the inner doorskin that is lower than the rest of the door. I am told that a hole there will ensure that water drains out. Rather you than me, though!

Thanks for the tip. Not sure my B&D Hammer Drill is delicate enough for this operation though ! Might create additional air vents.

It is true though that the drain hole is not at the lowest point of the door so I guess it is another of those wonderful features not covered in the manual. Chapter 53 - "Refilling your Kettle". Could be useful at LM next year !

my door drainage holes had been drilled too high at the factory so Topcats drilled some new ones when it was in for service and problem was solved
