I have a hankering to try a 914/6 as a track day and race car one day - odd I know but there are a number of historic/ classic races such as the Classic Sports Car Clubs "Swinging Sixties" or the 750 MC's Sports Racing & GT series where such a thing could be: a) competitive and b) different without being stupidly expensive (ie not FIA Homologation special or ex works car etc etc) but, understandably I suppose, there are not many about. Does that mean that they have all rusted away or are they in barns/ collections or, if they ever come up for sale, does it mean that they could be quite cheap??!!
Anyone got any info (magazine road/ track test reports etc)or know of where they might be for sale?
Anyone got any idea what one might cost in standard or race trim? Is a "standard car" easy to put in race trim?
It seems to have been more popular in the US (inc in club racing)and a number of conversions from standard 4 cylinder cars have been done but they are not common in the UK - how difficult is a conversion (ie fitting a 911 3.0 or 3.3 engine)?
And I know that some people have fitted Subaru flat 4's or Chevy V8s but this is just vandalism as far as I am concerned!
Just thought I'd start a new thread on an apparently forgotten and often maligned Porsche!
