Hi guys,
I know the question has been asked a fair few times and Ive trawled this forum for the last couple of weeks trying to get definitive answers to my questions. Basically just got rid of a 2001 Impreza P1 and really fancy a Tuscan, I have up to about £20,000 to spend! The car is only me weekend toy and estimate to do up to about 3,000 miles a year! I know you guys are gonna be a little biased but am I making the right decision? My only worries is firstly the reliability of the cars and also the lack of TVR specialists/dealers in the North West (or am I wrong there?) At what sort of age/mileage is a rebuild to be expected - Shall I go for a 20k mile car with no rebuild or do I go for a 30k mile car with rebuild and how could you tell when viewing a car if an engine build is imminent?
I know youve all probably answered these questions a million times, but thanks in adavance for any help guys!

Not yet matey!
Have driven a 4.2 Cerbera a couple of years ago and loved it! Took my mates new Ferrari 612 out the other day and it made my Subaru seem characterless and uninspiring! Havent got Ferrari money so I thought the Tuscan would give similar sort of thrills for a lot less money?

There's a very well thought of indy in Middlewich - Ian at Torque RVT. Haven't used him but he gets loads of praise on here.
My take is that if the engine was built or rebuilt from the end of 2002 onwards then they are a lot more sorted. Mine was last rebuilt in Aug '02 and has done about 25k miles since with no problems. If it was me I'd go for a Sep '00 or newer car with a recent rebuild, fitted with Nitrons.

Go for it... but be carefull to get a good one...older Tuscan are infamous for engine rebuilds....Join the TVR Club and go to either Manchester/Cheshire,West Lancs or Blackpool meetings. As for TVR specialist in the North West...I think we've got two of the best indys in the country with Automedon (at Poulton) and Ian (at Middlewich)
Hi there, I am putting my 2001 51 plate 4.0 grigio tuscan up for sale if you are interested. It has 32000 on the clock and I am taking it to blackpool this weekend for a full service (15/10/06) If you want any info on it just drop me a mail to dsmason@btconnect.com. If not good luck in your search and believe me a Tuscan is a great choice!!!

Hi guys
Thanks a lot for the advice! My hearts set on a Tuscan now!!! Ideally a low mileage 2001+ car or a slightly higher mileage car with a rebuild.
Gonna do a bit of digging now regarding the specialists and am going to start the search for my car!
Thanks again and Ill keep you posted!!!
