Has anyone used this Shell V-Power petrol yet. I guess it is a replacement for the OpiMax stuff which was OK in my Tiv.

Yes, seems just the same as Optimax. I'm not convinced its any more than a rebranding exercise.

Its much much much better fuel, however.. in a TVR your not going to see much advantage over the old Optimax

Unless presumably, it's re-mapped to suit...? Pity that many cars have adaptive mapping but not TVR's

Forgive the dumb question, but what RON fuel is a T350 going to run best on: 95 or 97? The TVR web site just sats 95-98RON for fuel.

Been running on it for a month. No noticeable difference to Optimax other than pop bang quotient has definitely increased with supersport exhaust.

Re Optimax vs V-Power: I noted that Optimax was 98, V-Power is 99.
I can't tell any diff, but t350 seems to run pretty well on it.
I did notice a huge difference between standard motion potion and Optimax in my bike (Fireblade at that time) when it first came out some years back. I did hear of some scurrilous forecourt owners mixing standard with Optimax, and sometimes I failed to feel the extra bang in the bike and put it down to that or lot variation.

Hmmmmm.... not so sure about that.

I thought the MBE ecu did have adaptive mapping and also matched various parameters to the driver after a certain time to improve the overall response and efficiency of the engine.

At least that's what I tell the other half - noooo you can't go driving my toy - she's only just got used to my cr@p driving.

Although I have yet to use V-Power in the UK I have used it whilst TVRing on the continent and I have to say that it does make a big difference. Last year in pretty hot weather during our Zolder, Nurburgring and Spa trip the Sagaris was struggling to run cleanly without pinking. Filled up with V-Power and the car instantly felt more responsive, it stopped pinking and it seemed to be slightly more economical. I suppose that you need to do an extended, objective test, perhaps using a dyno to be sure of any real advantage. The TVR/MBE management system dynamically maps itself as the car runs.
Hope that this helps and best regards, Tony

Hi Tony,

Had differing info on this - I'm seeing Mark Adams this pm as he dyno's a large V8 nearby so I'll ask him & settle the question. By the way, impressed by your performance in std Sag at Harewood! Any faster & I'll need more mods hehe

Interesting facts from Mark Adams, explains the mixed info out there.....

The MBE ecu IS a unit that can be set up to be adaptive, as Tony suggested.

However, the MBE ECU in TVR's isn't installed with the necessary sensors & maps to adapt the ignition to different fuel octane.

So some gains will be there with different fuel but much smaller than they could be (and would be in all the cars that do have adaptive ignition like Impreza's/Evo's).

But we can still go & get it permanently remapped on the better fuel!

Thanks for that Paul, I knew I wasn't just imagining a difference. If you get any faster at Harewood I'll have to get a much much quicker car! And I'll still be behind you and John!!
Best regards, Tony

You're welcome Tony. The T & Sag are great on the hills aren't they!

Just a matter of getting out there more - vital business advertising, surely

I have just read on their web site it is only 90-93 which is pants!

I think you may have been reading the US website. Their octane measuring stick is shorter than ours.

Alas, I'm afraid a change in vehicle direction will mean my Sagaris will not be on the hills in 2007.
