If anyone's interested, the TV schedule is:

Qualifying 1
Live 02:15-04:10 07/03/03
Repeat 00:30-02:30 08/03/03

Qualifying 2
Live 02:30-04:15 08/03/03
Repeat 14:00-15:40 08/03/03

Race
Live 02:05-05:10 09/03/03
Repeat 13:30-16:00 09/03/03

Race highlights
00:15-01:25 10/03/03

What's the point of putting the first qualifying repeat on after midnight? I might as well stay up to watch it live! I can't wait - I'm guessing the first big name to go out on a flying lap and.... we'll be right back after these messages.

I will be setting the video and watching when it suits me.
Fast-forward through the boring bits, should leave 10 minutes of footage.............

Now that is a good plan. Can anyone supply a 10 year old to program the video for me??

If this season's no different from the recent past, qualifying and starts are the only bits worth watching.

Viewing a race is about as interesting as watching Ecclestone's wallett grow bigger.

Could lend you my 12 year old son, as long as it's a no deposit/no return deal.

This season there two qualifying sessions, the first on Friday determines the order they go on Saturday. Qualifying comprises one flying lap, and the on Saturday they run in the reverse order to how they finished on Friday. So on Saturday Fridays slowest car goes first, and the fastest car last.

The theory is that the track will be faster towards the end of the session so the fastest car will still end up at the front.

However no refuelling is allowed between the end of Sat qualifying and the race. Therefore the cars have to start with the fuel that qualified with. Fuel equals weigh, more weight equals less speed, so it is possible that Minardi could qualify at or near the front with minimal fuel but lots of publicity, and then stop for fuel on lap 2.

Also if you go off on your flying lap, or there is a rain shower etc you could be disadvantaged. If you go off you'll start from the back of the grid.

All designed to spice up the show. Anyway I'll record the first lot, watch the second and the race.

I was there last year sitting right in front of that first corner incident. Oh well, guess I'll just have to sit in front of the TV this year.

Now where can I get some tinny's of VB from.....

i fcukin hate schumacher, and the bullsh!t he came up with yesterday in qualifying 1 saying he was 'in effect a road sweeper for all the other cars' BOLLOKS mate. but i gotta say last night in qual 2 he did pull out a superb lap, but i think those ferraris are on a low fuel load, they looked far to good thrgh the corners compared to ALL the others, well, the race should be interestng, good luck to the man JPM, he is the best driver in F1.

Just watched the Chelsea Arsenal game: 2 all. As a Chelsea supporter I don't know whether to laugh at getting a draw or cry at throwing away the early advantage. BTW this is football I'm talking about here for the hardcore PH'ers. Anyway, tossing up the idea of going on the town and drowning my sorrows or going to bed and getting up at 4:00 am to watch the GP. Amsterdam, is at my beck and call but the weather is foul outside and a Ferrari 1-2 on the grid… is it worth getting up for?

I thoroughly enjoyed it all, but then I'm a complete F1 nutter and always have been. Admire all the drivers too, but wish they didn't (apparently) dislike eachother so much - didn't used to be like that.

I suspect agent006 has a good point there - this qualifying was OK because it's the first we've seen for months, but as time goes by it could get monotonous in the new format. Definitely more exciting the old way.
