Could this be alarming????
Discussion
Still need to change my dead battery (at least I have now found it !!). If there is no power in the battery, will the alarm still go off when I disconnect it, assuming I can disconnect it and the connections are not corroded and I dont break off the bolts like I did with one of the cover bolts? Also, it looks like an original TVR battery, is that some sort of record for a 3 1/2 year old car?!
The alarm will go off when you disconnect the battery, you just have to put up with the din until you connect the new one - buy it from a TVR specialist before you start. You can't be sure a Halfords battery will have the correct flange for the Tuscan's clamp.
2 things to watch out for:
1. make sure the key is not in the ignition and the driver's door is open - the central locking will activate when you disconnect the old battery.
2. be careful not to earth the live terminal on the chassis which is very adjacent.
An Optimate charger should be used if you don't drive the car for 7-10 days - this will prolong battery life and prevent low-voltage problems with the doors & windows.
