help! cerbera flat battery

Having come back from 2 weeks holiday i found my 4.2 cerberas engine failed to start(is this normal?)got a friend to help me jump start it but after a few runs round the block i tested the indicators and found they didnt work although the hazard lights did! Also the wipers and washers didnt work and id only recently had these fixed for the MOT. After i parked up i found the engine failed to turn over on its own and the hazard lights kept flashing.im off to buy a new battery but can anyone tell me what might be wrong with the wipers/indicators, could it be the fuses? please help coz i dont want to get ripped off by a garage
Two weeks without charge could drag down an ageing battery in a cerb. Another issue could be that it's not charging properly. The 100A 'big' fuse between the battery and the alternator is a common source of charging problems.
Battery volts get dragged down when the starter kicks in and can play havoc with the cars electrics. Most of the black boxes have some sort of microprocessor in them and these can do some very strange things after trying to start on a flat battery. Best thing to do is disconnect them and leave for a short period before reconnecting. Boxes are located under the dash in the front and on the fuel tank in the boot.

Had to put a new battery in recently, no amount of charging would make it hold charge for more than a couple of nights. All sorts of electical gremlins manifested themselves during this period on account of the weak charge, don't worry about that part (yet

As above, do check the big fuse first though, if that is old and/or has a bad connection it might not be passing through enough current which in turn would be a reason why battery will not be getting charged up enough whilst in fact the battery could be just fine.
