Hi

First post on here and indeed I've just purchased my first 911.

I've searched at length for the answer to this on Google but to no avail, so you guys are my last chance.

It seems the large majority of insurers want a Thatcham approved CAT1 or CAT2 alarm/immobiliser system for this kind of Porsche.

Can anyone clarify whether the manufacturer-fitted standard alarm/immobiliser that comes with a 911 C2 (manu. in 2000) is Thatcham approved and, if so, whether it CAT1 or CAT2?

Much appreciated..

A.

If it's a UK spec car (C16 on the under-bonnet and/or service book sticker) it's Thatcham approved. If it was originally built for another country it won't be Thatcham approved.

My local OPC sent me a letter proving that the alarm and immobiliser were CAT 1w which my insurer took as proof.
