996 Sat Nav question

Those of you with this option, can it be used (as most other sat nav devices) to display your speed accurately?

I have tried PCM 1 up on cars up to late 2002....I really do not recall any indication of speed indication.
The thing is you have an analogue speedo up to 200 mph as well as a digital speedo below it.Any more indications of speed may be seen as overkill.
