Further to Monday's post, Shakespeare County Raceway together with APIRA officials will be looking towards a rain free weekend as the Warwickshire quarter mile gears up for the second of its autumn scheduled Public Track Day Test & Tunes, writes SCR’s Jerry Cookson

The weekend has already received plenty of interest from some of the countries leading sportsman racers as well as members from Outlaw Flat Four Club www.offdrc.co.uk who will be at the strip in force to take on all comers whether it’s an imported rice rocket or a tamed Euro box. All are welcome to join the fun.

The Junior Drag Bikes will also be on hand to cap their season off at Shakey in grand style especially as the eyes and ears from CBBC TV’s Sportsround programme will be on hand Saturday to film a segment with APIRA champion Scotty Collier and dad Jerry who, for this weekend only, will be riding his former record holding RD400 especially for the occasion.

The National Street Car Challenge www.jsm-net.demon.co.uk/nscc/index the UK’s premier street and strip series backed by the guys at the Hot Rod Gazette, reaches its season long conclusion. Following a change at the top of the points chart with a late season burst from Graham Bell’s 351ci Windsor powered ‘67 ragtop Mustang overhaulin’ Neil Martin’s 5.0 Mustang, the 400ci Chevy motivated ‘65 Triumph Herald of Scott Stringfellow has a mathematical change of stealing the title on the day!

Bikers from the Kawasaki 750cc Triple Club will also be on hand to sample the Shakespeare County race surface for the first time, and so to will Roger Goring in test mode with the popular ‘Firestorm’ Jet Funny Car. Lane sponsors Motorshack www.motorshack.co.uk has put up a fist full of product vouchers for the quickest street legal car and motorcycle over the course of the two days.

Admission to the raceway is £10 Sat, £12 Sun or £20 for a weekend pass. RWYB track fee is £20 or £35 for the weekend for unlimited runs without the fuss. Overnight camping is available for weekend ticket holders only. For further information call 01789 720180 or log on the www.shakespearecountyraceway.co.uk

Weather allowing, we'll be there with both cars... All being well, we should send them down the strip together, although whether they launch together or not is another question entirely!

Come say hello if you're there..
