I have bought a 94L chimp
I want to upgrate the coil for a better model.
It currently has a partco unit.
What would you upgrade too? my understanding is that the cheeper coil's field brakes down with heat.

Thanks
Mark

I used a Bosch coil from ACT when my original one started to play up.

Alternatively, try a flame thrower coil available from Demon Tweeks (if you do make sure you get the V8 version)...I've got one on mine and its been fine.

Unless it's faulty there's no need to change it. Some of the original equipment was pretty poor: electrical oil leaked from them. I replaced mine for this reason, although it was still working perfectly at that point.

Mine was leaking oil and causing a misfire. Bosch replacement fixed it and I understand they can cope with the heat better.

My car seemed sluggish under hard acceleration from the day I got it but just assumed that I had got use to fast cars and that was it. Having read some of the comments I thought maybe a new coil might help as when i checked it mine was a cheap and nasty one.

Changed it last night (about 30 mins) for a Bosch one from Euro Car Parts at £48 inc and the difference is amazing. The acceleration has become much better and it feels much smoother.

Well worth the change (and also good insurance as when i took the old one off you could hear the oil swilling about inside.

Mine was changed for a Bosch replacement supplied by tvrfix.com for less than £28 (quid) after oily black one caused problems. They even fitted the connectors to the coil, so you are sure to get the wires fitted correctly.
Need I say more.

Is that a Bosch one or a replacement (substitute) one for the Bosch, as £28 is cracking price.

The invoice states Bosch and the box had the name all over it. This coil fixed the intermitent misfire the black oily job was producing from the king connection.
