Track-club slices track-hire prices

Winter track days just got cheaper

Track-club has announced a range of winter incentives at some of the UK’s best circuits in the run up to Christmas.

With trackdays now a year-round phenomenon, you can say 'no thanks' to Christmas shopping, and 'yes please' to driving round Brands Hatch on a crisp December day.

All the special prices for winter events cover two drivers, helmets, track fees, fuel and insurance as well as delivery to the circuit in plenty of time for a briefing, and getting you out driving when the track opens.

Prices start at just £595 per day. This includes:

  • exclusive car hire for you and one other person
  • the track fee again covering two drivers at some of the UK’s leading circuits
  • fuel
  • insurance (excess from £1,000 applies to encourage sensible driving!)
  • helmets and intercoms (talk to your passenger as you terrify them!)

Cars available include:

  • RenaultSport Clio 182 Cup (£595)
  • Caterham Roadsport B (£695)
  • Lotus Elise S2 (£795)
  • Ariel Atom (£795)
  • RenaultSport Spider Cup (£795)
  • Lotus Exige S2 (£995)
  • Caterham CSR260 (£1,195)

Circuits and dates available are as follows:

  • Donington – Tuesday 17 October
  • Snetterton – Wednesday 18 October
  • Silverstone – Wednesday 1 November
  • Oulton Park – Friday 10 November
  • Donington – Saturday 11 November
  • Rockingham – Sunday 12 November
  • Donington – Thursday 16 November
  • Mallory Park – Sunday 19 November
  • Silverstone – Saturday 25 November
  • Bedford Autodrome –Saturday 25 November - track-club Open Event (£250)
  • Snetterton – Sunday 26 November
  • Rockingham – Sunday 3 December
  • Brands Hatch – Saturday 9 December
  • Donington – Sunday 10 December

Most events are open pit lane or the popular Gold Track 30 minute session format. Full refunds will be given in the event of an event being cancelled by the operator due to bad weather.

Track-clubs ‘Arrive & Drive’ service allows customers to specify any UK or European track day and the club will deliver a car to the circuit.

The club's Stephen Docherty said: "In my view, track day car hire can't get any more sensible than the prices here. Less than £300 per head including the track fee to blat a 182 Cup round Silverstone -- I must be losing the plot!!"

Details

The club has recently invested heavily in the renewing the fleet to improve reliability and availability and further exciting additions to the fleet such as the Lotus Circuit Car are planned.

All hires are refundable against track-club membership. If you hire a car from track-club and then decide to join, you get a refund of your hire fee against the membership fee.

£595.00 a day for a Clio! Go and buy an old GTi fro that and say bollox to the £1000 excess! You can have a day driving 7 different motors at Bedford Autodrome for that money!

So for £595 there is somewhere that will rent me a Ferrari and not only let me use it on a track but pay for the track day, deliver the car and fuel it? Blimey that would be a deal!

I don't think the price is too far out of the ball park. How much would it cost you to do an all day track day with a spare driver, in terms of fees, petrol costs and vehicle wear and tear I bet your looking around £450.

Those prices are actually pretty competitive.

When i owned and ran the 'teg, I figured a trackday would cost me about 300-350 quid up-front (fee, insurance, petrol), plus at least another hundred in accelerated car-wear (tyres, brakes & fluid, bushes and dampers). And it was my P&J I was risking.

I don't think they'd let you drive the Ferrari round Silverstone, pay for your fuel and the track fee and deliver it for you somehow! You've clearly never done a track day or looked at prices for track day car hire.

£500 for a track day all up including the track time and fuel is great value for money, you'll get a shed load more track time that you would on any corporate type or red letter day driving experience.

Everybody's entitled to their two penneth worth however so let's not turn the thread into a slanging match. Any PH'ers want to share a Caterham Roadsport for the day somewhere?

Hmmm...tempting.

Once I've work sorted, I'll be up for that! But as I'm currently unemployed, I can't commit...bad timing, sorry. Atom could be rather fun as well, and only a ton more...

Remember, this is for two drivers, so £300-£350 each. If it's an open pit lane that's excellent value. If it's sessions, less so. My Westfield uses about £100 of petrol on a track day. Add that to the £150ish fee, and you're almost there without wear and tear on your own car.
