Instrument lights all stopped working the other night.
Doesn't seem to be the switch on the steering cowl and
can't see any blown fuses on the main fusebox in the footwell.
Anyone had anything similar?

Cheers, Col

have you tried pressing the mythical button, under the dash near where you left knee would go.

I have to agree with this - you WILL have a button under the dash - above where you left knee (which I would bet money is the culprit here) would normally be whilst driving.

It will look and feel like the boot release button.

I'd pop out with a torch and double check.

Switch on the ignition and press anything down there that fits our descriptions - I bet you get a result thumbup

Definately a button under LHS. The one under the steering cowl is to increase/decrease the intermittent wiper delay. Hope you find it.

Well bugger me with a fishfork ! Your right about
that switch, only had the car a month or so but
never noticed it. Still got two mysterious buttons
though. A small push button behind the wiper delay
switch that does not latch and doesn't seem to do
anything and a large thumb size button on the right
hand side of the cowl that I can hear clicking a relay
but not doing anything as I can see either?

That'd be the boot release - well it is on mine yes

Boot release is usually under the dash on rhs - next to the bonnet catch. It could have been moved though...........

boot release is in the normal place. Like I say when
I press the switch there is a definate click behind
the dash but nothing appears to happen. I will have a good
look at it at the weekend.

I've compiled a list of the not-always-obvious Chimaera quirks here, let me know if you discover any more!

My old car used to have a dial under the RHS of the dash which you turned and this operated the RAM Air fan which only came out of the drivers vent.

Mine is more of a rotary knob. It changes the pause length for the intermittent wipe but not by much and so I hardly ever use it. I often wondered if there was a way to get a biiger range to make this function more useful.

For more quirks: Whilst I had the top of the dash off I replaced some failed bulbs in the instrument panel and found that for the tacho and speedo these had little green sleeves over the bulbs but none of the rest did. I have mint dial faces. Maybe explains why the these dials appear dimmer than the rest.

You mean a rotary switch! Mine has one of these which is the same as the fan switch on dash.
