What's your best ever mpg?

I have just taken my 400se on a 4/500mile round trip up to the parents in the peak district.I went to help them move house.As i was going on my own i thought it would be an ideal opportunity to take the wedge a little further afield.I have owned my wedge since May and have only ever taken it locally,either to work or a quick blart in the evening.
So it was with some trepidation that i set off last Wednesday on the 200 mile trip to M&D's.I'd checked everything of course,levels,lights,tyres,bled the clutch(i have an on going problem with air in the system)packed small amount of tools/oil/clutch fluid.
My next concern ,not surprisingly was what mpg to expect.The car proved to be totally reliable and a steady 80mph up the motorway gave me 25mpg.
I have to say i am very pleased with this.What kind of mpg have you guys experienced on your trips?

Well I managed just over 30mpg on the way back from BBWF this year. Driving like an old maid as the cooling system has problems coping with hot weather.

My best mpg was the last two miles home just after a driveshaft let go Didn't use a drop.
Mind you it cost a few hundred quid in tow truck fees and parts.

mine was 'excellent' (relatively for the car) last time I went up to Cadwell. It was about 17mpg ! (it's normally 12)

Absolutely no idea although the rate the card gets hit on long journeys I don't expect high double figures.

i got 50 mpg on a trip tp blackpool at the weekend.

Got 28mpg on the way to BBWF this year. Dropped below 20mpg on the way back though got to love baiting those porkers !

25 - 30 mph when the car was setup correctly.
Worst was 9mpg

I managed to get 8 mpg on an airfield last year. Admitedly some of the petrol was pouring out the side after making the mistake of filling up 5 mins before getting to the airfield.

24 mpg was the best during the second day of ownership after realising how different a RWD car is to a FWD car and being very scared of ending up in a ditch.

Average about 17-18 mpg.

Its a funny, but the wedge is unlike any other car I have owned when it comes to fuel consumption.

When mpg is at its worst (low teens), then I'm at my happiest...

On my 1983 Tasmin that I owned for 15 years, I consistently got between 27 and 31 mpg on the highway for the entire time I had the car. It was usually between 18-20 for in town driving.
I haven't had my latest 280i long enough to measure it yet but hope I come close to that.

Pretty good. Especially considering you were carrying their chest of drawers, bedframe and piano in the boot.

ahh but mine is a humble 4 litre, and I only have one fuel pump !!!!

Worn out Rover VDP EFi with 3 speed autobox booting it uphill the computer showed 0.7 mpg.

DavidY was the passenger at the time.

True - I have 2. One for running the engine with and the other for spitting flames out of the exhaust

Just done a 1000 mile round trip from Kent to Edinburgh, MWay cruising at .8 - .9 units
some SC blasts for overtaking, roof down all the time, with a passenger and luggage, and averaged 23.5 mpg.

On motorway last year Glasgow/Bristol and back I got 25 mpg with hood up (raining) and 24 mpg hood down.

Round about home I get approx 20 mpg.

On a fun drive on empty Scottish Borders roads only got abt 17 mpg - but the grin factor was much larger.

Not a wedge, but my V8S regularly averages over 30mpg on the drive to darlington to see my girlfriend.

Wouldn't that be American miles and US gallons...?
