Picked up the TVR Chimaara 4.0 98 up tuesday, and I haven't been able to stop driving it since, its the best thing I've ever done, well worth the wait.

Its got just over 24,000 on the clock and has just had its big service done. Is it worth having anything else checked? eg 'wishbones' I've heard all sorts of comments made on this topic, is it best to have these treated hammerite? as a precaution, if so is it expensive get this done by a main dealer? or is it simple enough to do it myself?

I actually enjoy going to work now !!!!

Not difficult to scrape, hammerite and waxoyle the chassis and wishbones. I did mine myself, though must admit that I cheated a bit and did it on a ramp (friends in the right places!!).

depends how well you want to get to know your garage floor...took me half a day per corner in total and don't regret doing it at all - while you're down there you might want to underseal the diagonal chassis bars behind the front wheels and in front of the rears - they take a fair old hammering from salt/grime/water and the flexibility of underseal is more effective than chippable hammerite for these two areas. Look at it as a kind of initiation exercise coz you'll be stiff for three days afterwards !!! Good luck! Nice choice of machinery - Tant.

ps Near-side always worse than off-side coz of gutters, nachoorly (hic)
