and BEWARE they may well be the small digital ones mounted high up on a post about 5-6m up! no chance of seeing them, if it is that type. the old concrete box types seem to be dissapearing in Switzerland and being replaced by these digital ones. Box is around 20-30cm high with a yellow lens and the camera is so small, usually below it, as to be unnoticeable, around 10cm diameter tube around 20 cm long and grey!!!

If you are French - they reciprocate points. This ist because French hammer the Swiss und there ist a little old conflict over Savoie... und Swiss victory over French. Ist like the problem with the English Odd that they seem not to have this aversion to everyone else though .. confused

But if you are a low speed blip.. a fine - means tested ranting but NO points. If much higher as in 8-10 mph .. fine (means tested) und points on licence. It also depend on danger level too - like weather considerations Serious overspeed .. as here ist "Good morning Herr Judge!" yikes

What they may well do if the send you the fine(GB sends owner info to anyone) and you don't pay it, you might be listed in their PNG (persona non grata) booklet and stopped at the border, probably arrested and held until you pay a much higher fine (accumulated interest, their costs etc) Happened to a business contact here in Germany and was damned expensive and it was only a SFR 20,- parking fine!

The whole of the 120kph limited area on the A5 south of Freiburg to Basel and to the French border crossing at Neuenburg is a trap area, they usually are placed under the bridges as less visible (grey boxes) and they have a slip road for the cars....

I Now live in Basel and drive a Swiss registered car and am now angel (in Swizterland) due to means tested fines but when driving to UK and I hit the unrestriced autobhan driving.

These cameras are pretty common now, especially in the middle of and on the exit from tunnels (Luzerne immediately springs to mind) and as you can imagine in Switzerland there are a whole lot of tunnels.
