Hi Peeps,

Just thought I would post here that after a very short Porshce ownership experience I am having to sell up.

Into my weights at the gym and damaged my lower back pretty badly a week ago and can't drive the car without severe back pain.

Up for sale here

www.pistonheads.com/sales/105893.htm

Only car I have test driven which is good for my back is a Mercedes CLK. Any other suggestions got to be an auto as dipping the clutch is a no no.

I will still stay in this section as I am hoping in 6 months or so I will be able to get back in another Porsche.

Cheers Matt

A week is a very short time to heal a back injury. Have you considered spending he money you'll lose on a physio/osteopath?

Don't sell the car - buy an automatic box (i use an old BMW 540i) and run that around until your back is better. Shouldn't take that long if you do all the right things (physio, etc.)

I slipped L4 and burst L5 back when i was at Uni, couldn't walk for 5 weeks, doc eventually reinflated L5 and 3 days later i was walking, another day and i was driving a clutch again.

Good luck!

I can confirm that the new shape CLK has an excellent driving position and is comfortable over long journeys. The other to consider are Volvos and Saabs.

I recently had an SLK 350 auto which was good fun and pretty comfy, only 2 seats though.

You must have hurt yourself pretty badly that a CLK is the only alternative... I'd keep the Porsche for a while until it's really certain that you have to sell it and go for a cheap old Beemer for recovery.

Get well! Dr S

I think it's a bit early to talk about operations!

Your back should be better within 6 weeks. I wouldn't sell my Porsche under those circumstances.

Thanks for the reply guys

I would get another car but only have space for two cars at the house and the missus has a car so not point leaving my car standing for 6 months in a lock up.

Some may say it is a knee jerk reaction but I consider it just a break from Porsche ownership and will be back in 6 months or so time.

Thanks for the car suggestions...off to test drive a few auto/tips at the weekend and will let you know how I get on.

Cheers Matt

Looks like it will go sooner than I think. Already had a few phone calls and an email today about it.

Opinions on a RR Sport....saw one today and looks pretty nice and comfy....

I test drove the diesel HSE a little while ago. Was a great ride with excellent all round comfort, superb driving position and all the toys you need. Would gladly buy one today but am waiting for new V8 diesel to come out in a month or so. If you are using finance to buy the replacement talk to one of the independant providers about your intention to swap cars again in 6 months or so and they should be able to tailor something that will allow you to get back into Porsche ownership with the minimal of fuss.

ps: wifey in knee high boots walking on your back should ease the pain hehe hehe
