Would anyone be interesting in a participating in a rally down to Le Mans (15th June)and the return trip on the (18th)? Possibly, from London to Le Mans?
I know there is a massive number of enthusiasts who make the journey annually as it is. It would be a good idea to make an event of it.
Costs would be limited to your own fuel and the money made from sponsorship (stickers on cars etc) would go to charity of course.
I am trying to gauge interest as it would be possible to get media coverage and I have already sorted out sponsorship/charitable status if there is enough interest.

What is your thoughts? If there is enough people interested a website with further details will be made.

Phil

Sounds like a plan, plenty of people do their own runs anyway so getting them all together could work.

Already booked hotels and ferry so this is a no go I'm afraid.

I'll keep an eye out for you at the side of the road as the Gendarmes empty all your wallets. Just a warning, making it obvious you're in a rally with stickers and the like just makes it easier to stop you at the toll booths.

NO please don`t do it - Le Mans is currently being gently ruined by overexposure as it is and the thought of any "gumball style" involvement fills me with dread.

Thousands of us go anyway without the need of attracting any additional (possibly unwelcome) attention!

Hmm okay mixed reactions.

Its not going to be a race like gumball, not wanting anyon to hurt themselves or anyone else. Just a chance to enjoy the journey with other likeminded motorists and enthusiasts.

Its jonathans brother btw _tc, il be taking my V6 clio down, im sure he might take the lotus if he can get time off from work. He is considering selling i think, should email him

Just advising you that 2 chaps who did the carbon black run recently had their cars impounded and they are currently at auction by the police:

I don't mean to offend you but thats what gumball implies. You could just have said convoy down to Le Mans, which would be excellent. A meeting point at the start, drive down, watch the race, then drive back together. Quite a bit of logistics involved but still.

Yea thats exactly it, a convoy type affair and in no way a race, its for charity!

The thing is, there are LOADS of other like minded groups who go down in convoy anyway and, a lot of them already do it with stickers and fancy dress. You may be preaching to the converted

Preaching to the converted indeed my friend. I would say that a meeting point somewhere on the French side of the crossing at a reasonable hour on the Thursday afternoon would be a better plan. Give a time to meet and the time you are setting off. Should get a great selection of cars together for the Fun Run down to La Sarthe thumbup
