Yup - it's a long shot.
Although Wedges are still seen by some as a cheap way of getting into TVR ownership, in fact things are a changin....

There are fewer and fewer Wedges on the roads, simply because they are getting old and need serious money spending on them in order to keep them on the road.

Wedge owners who are using/enjoying their TVRs (and by definition that is any Wedge owner regularly reading PH) are already likeley to have had some hefty bills getting the chassis / engine sorted, major work of any kind breeds a strange attachment to any car. Also, these are likely to be people who have grown to appreciate the Wedge styling and already know they own the best sounding TVR.
Hence they are most unlikely to consider swapping.

I've got a feeling that Wedges will become increasingly scarce, but that the remaining Wedges will become treasured classics in every sense. Like I said, you are onto a loser trying to prize a 'sorted' Wedge from it's owner.

You should see the reaction any big Wedge gets arriving at a TVR meet. Everybody gathers round savouring the exaust note and staring at the shape.
We love Wedges

(Edited to point out the obvious)

YUP, Totally agree. I recently read in two classics magazines that wedge prices are likely to be on the up. Scarce, fast, V8 and too cheap was the conculusion. Get one whilst thy can!

I have to agree there. I have seen wedges depreciate to silly money since owning mine. With the tasmin challenge eating up what were once good road worthy cars, they have started to make the marque rarer. As has been said, turn up at any meet ... Dancing Donkey.... to Saxo owners club, and its the wedge that makes people's heads turn.

Back to the subject though, I can see why this guy wants to swap his GTO now summer is here

what was it one guy said to me at a meet once ...
GTO (actually it was a 3000GT)..

4x Wheel Drive
3x Litres
2x Turbo's
1x Smile

I smiled back knodded, fired up the Wedge, and watched the colour drain from his face .. I then left very loudly.

Dont get me wrong though... I like the Mitsi too... an indicated 170+ chasing a 355 in france was cool. Its a bit like putting on rubber gloves though to have a wank !!! a little bit too sterile ! (for my liking!)

Recently considered parting with the 400 (pressures from the young lady of the house ).. sometimes the obvious needs to be pointed out to clear any clouded judgement, and I feel you couldn't have put it better Nacnud..

I thank you... wedge on

I had an Impreza for 3 years. Fast - Yes. Handling - Perfect. Fun - No. Give me my wedge any day for fun, in the sun too!
