Had a bad hit today ! stone hit bottom of my Tams
screen and by the end of the day I had a 50/50,
reminded me of the Morris Minor days....

Who's had a windscreen replaced on a Tam/350/Sag ?
Was it strictly a TVR dealer, my insurance company
only cover part of it if I do not use the Car Glass
route they recommend. These guy's are still trying
to find a engineer who has TVR experience !!! so
don't hold much hope and TVR quoted me around
350+vat..............

Yup had one done ... bad news it took 7 weeks just to get hold of a windscreen. Only TVR did them, I tried every windscreen company around. Apprently the screens were made in Iceland and my car sat and sat in Melton Mowbray. I'd get on to TVR straight away and see if they have one at the factory ... I think that's where my one came from in the end, or at least that was what I was told. I was never too sure if I was being fed a line and they were using it for track days or something.

Andrew - your experience sounds pretty dreadful How much did it cost you in the end, or did insurance cover it all?

My dealer replaced mine after it got damaged somehow in their car (odd scratch in line of sight). They ordered the screen from TVR - came quickly when needed, then got a local screen fitter in from one of the big firms who has worked on TVRs before. He did a 99% perfect job.

So I'd suggest asking your dealer to help as they've probably had to replace screens before and will know who is any good.

It was a dreadful experience! Mannings were great and got me a cheque for the lot (minus £60 excess) within a few days of sending then the invoice which included £120 transportation charge. Total bill was £696!

I'd agree with Trefor that your Dealer is the best route is possible. Just hope you never have to go through it!

Cheers.... Andrew

The left side of my windscreen met with a rock bouncing down the A2 one Sunday afternoon and the results weren't pretty. Luckily the screens are tough, and only the 'outer layer' was damaged, albeit severly, and no damage to the inside of the screen.

Anyway, Autoglass in Islington did a great job. It took about 10-12 days to get a replacement screen from TVR, and took them three days to fit it. They were certainly a fan of the marque, and did a great job. All the seals, alignment and fitting were perfect.

Am I correct in thinking that you can no longer have any number of windscreen replacements on insurance anymore?

Apart from the £60 or so excess I think you lose NCB if you have more than 1 claim in 1 year.

I think the Windscreens are made by a Finnish company.
Some muppet had badly fitted the new windscreen in my old Chim and had ended up damaging the dash leather.
Got to be done by someone who knows the score.

Autoglass did a superb job on my heated screen on my cerbera. I guess it all depends who does it for you and where etc.

Thanks for all your posts, we are making progres but
slowly... my dealer quoted 350+vat for a replacement...WOW!

Autoglass have said they have a TVR expert and apparently
does do screens for TVR? so TVR were gonna charge me
TVR money but use a third part fitter probably !!

So hopefully I will still only pay the 60 excess and
no hit on the NCB as Privilege have advised...

I heard those screens were built in ICELAND! must
be for climatization reasons !

What a nightmare........

The story goes on, Car Glass have sourced the glass
but say that due to the announcement yesterday ?
the trim will not be available. I am concerned
by yesterdays NEWS but surely parts and dealer
ships will still operate !

Well TVRCarParts supplied mine to my dor in Oz. A local windscreen fitter fitted it all the trims were standard, here in Oz anyway. (T350T)

RAC did mine last month and used the old trim, as recommended by Automedon who spent some tome fitting w/screens when working at the factory.
