You know you can set the itunes on your Pc to mix for a certain time between the end of one track and the start of the next, is it possible to do the same on the iPod??

Nope, or at least not that I've found.
Can't see a cross-fade option anywhere, nor an option in iTunes to control such a feature on the ipod.

Doesn't iTunes 7 have some sort of cross-fade control?

I've not got my iPod around at the moment to check out the settings right now unfortunately.

No - although they are working on it. iTunes 7 was the first version that allowed you to set albums as 'continuous play' as they were selling dance mix CDs and iTunes/iPod was putting track gaps in. So they are moving in the right direction...

Ah, getting my little brain mixed up sorry.

Only really noticed the gaps having thought about it, but I tend to run my iPods on shuffle mode anyway, so the gaps aren't relevant.

I wonder if the one-track dance mix CDs (UnkleSounds for instance) we done as they are to stop the track gaps scratchchin

Very possibly... some mixers don't like to faff about with deciding where one track starts and the other stops.
