Did you know...?

... that you can accrue up to 11 points as a learner driver, and still take (and pass) your test? And keep driving with those 11 points.
However, if you get 6 points in the two years after taking your test, you revert to a probationary/learner driver.
On Radio 4's "Law In Action" today. Bit of an anomaly though.

Yes I did.
And you can only be reverted to learner status once, with the points you have accrued still remaining on your licence when it gets revoked.

I'd have thought that the nature of the motor insurance market would make this a practical impossibility - even if it's not a legal one - for all but the very wealthy.
And those who don't feel the need to insure, of course.

But thinking about it the people who this concerns are the joyriders etc who get 'points' even before they have or sometimes even old enough to have a licence.
These arnt the type of people who bother with tax and insurance!
