W****r of the Week.
Discussion
I've just seen this in the 'guest book' section of the new infamous www.grumpyoldsod.com website
Captain Grumpy has a 'Wanker of the Week' award, amongst other things.
It's a site well worth a look if you want a laugh.
QUOTE FROM CAPTAIN GRUMPY'S GUEST BOOK:
Brand new dipstick in the headlines. One Mary Williams of the national road safety charity BRAKE.
I'm afraid the road safety minister Stephen Ladyman (Yes LADYMAN....hee hee !!!) crossed swords with road safety Nazi Mary WILLIAMS by daring to express sympathy for dear old 'Hamster' Richard HAMMOND following his nasty dragster mishap. Mr Ladyman put his neck out and actually said that he was "distressed" that critics had used HAMMOND'S accident as an excuse to attack "Top Gear." He also said that HAMMOND was an "adventurer" and that Top Gear DID NOT encourage young men to speed in their cars. And all of this normality from a New Labour minister !!!!!
Result of Mr Ladyman's opinions:- Ms Mary WILLIAMS has dropped Mr LADYMAN from launching the National Road Safety Week.
Mary WILLIAMS is quoted as saying "we are alarmed and dissapointed that our road safety minister is taking time to defend Top Gear which quite blatantly glamorises fast cars, and in fact knocks the governments very own speed enforcement. Research quite clearly shows that drivers attitudes can be influenced by the messages that Top Gear can promote."
The final bit of Ms WILLIAMS speach firmly makes her the new Wanker of the week in my opinion, she then went on to say, "we also feel that distress was an inappropiately strong word to use, given the distress suffered by families affected by road death and injury caused by speeding drivers."
So any humanity road safety minister Stephen LADYMAN felt towards Richard HAMMOND following is accident his "inappropriate." Sounds like Ms WILLIAMS is rather pleased by Richard HAMMONDS accident. If her heartless view is representative of BRAKE's attitude, it doesn't say anything positive about this organisation. Also perhaps she lost sight of the circumstances of Richard's crash. She thought any compassion felt towards 'The Hamster' "inappropriate"......"given the distress suffered by families affected by road death in injury caused by speeding drivers."
Richard Hammond was on the old runway at the former RAF Elvingdon in a 300mph+ dragster. Not on a public highway with any other motorists. I also think it highly unlikely that the average Top Gear viewer is going to be able to rush out and do anything even vaguely similar. I'd love a 300 mph+ dragster but i can't even find one on ebay !!!!!
Plainly you have to earn the compassion of the politically correct and Health & Safety Nazis, by behaving exactly as they dictate.
Anyway Mary WILLIAMS of the road safety charity BRAKE is my personal WANKER OF THE WEEK.

Sorry, but this is no contest. Have you seen the "Ode to Richard Brunstrom" in the free rag the Police hand out in North Wales ; there's a translation of it in Private Eye
A paraphrase would be "Brunstrom you are so wonderful, a fabulous policeman" (ad nauseam).
We could put Wolfendales "Copper Rap" on the B side .....

Sorry chaps. Brake's reaction to banter in the past has been to call the police so we'll have to call a halt on this here. I haven't got time to fight off national newspapers, TV and the police just because Brake want a bit of PR at our expense.
