i think this is one of the most beautiful 911s ever made - love the colour, love the lines, and i think the techart front spoiler just finishes it off perfectly

however, not so keen on the rear spoiler, prefer an uninterrupted rump myself.

so without starting a debate on aesthetics, my question is, can one have a modified front spoiler and retain the normal rear, or will this screw up the handling? and if so would it matter for normal or mildly spirited road use, or only be an issue on the track?

You're right. The rear spoiler does look messy, particularly on the cabriolet.

Strictly speaking, any properly designed and engineered spoiler kits should work in unison. On the impact bumper cars, the rear spoilers should never be fitted without the front rubber lip spoiler, and vice versa. The Speedster for example had neither.

The wrong, or incompatible, spoilers can make the car feel very unsettled at high speed and increase the tendancy to understeer or oversteer. However, it's in crosswinds that the wrong aerodynamic balance shows up most. Even at modest speeds the car can feel very unstable.

Also, never been keen on 18" wheels on the 993. IMO it feels nicer on 17"s.

Don't like that rear spoiler myself, though i don't think you'd have any aerodynamic issues keeping those front splitters with the standard electric retractable rear spoiler. Remember that with a flat underside and a teardrop top half, the 911 shape is wonderful at generating lift, but anyone who's done 150mph+ in a 993 will be able to confirm that the car is wonderfully stable considering how much work that little electric spoiler must be doing to negate the lift...

Personally i prefer 18's on a 993, but that's a whole different thread...

Can't imagine you would have major problems if you got the original retractable spoiler working again. So long as you don't plan on spending your life doing 100mph+ sweepers on wet autobahns - and I assume that you don't!

I know Techart are a serious company but was this spolier specifically tuned for the cab? If it was just available for all 993's then I might question whether or not there was any significant beneficial effect at all and whether or not the effect was most noticiable when running top up or top down.
