Hello,
do you know who sell/make boot racks for the Chimaera?
Thanks

Well, you won't get a roof rack obviously, as the Chimaera is a convertible and roof won't have any load-bearing capability.

I very much doubt that there will be a boot rack available specifically for the Chimaera, but one designed for the MX-5, MGF or current MR2 (I've seen them on all 3 of these) might fit with minor modification.

Personally I'd be worried about damaging the fibreglass with a boot rack.

i'd be worried about ripping the boot lid off as I assume it would have to mount/strap to the lid itself !

There is a guy with a griff who has a rack bolted to the removable roof panel. I spotted him in the summer with a surfboard attached to it (and the poor bugger was broken down)

I'll wager he keeps his speed down or has some extra clips inside somehow (thought about something similar for my surfboard but decided it was a no-goer)

yes Exactly so. Unless the boot-rack has a permanent fixing of some sort then it's generally 4 big suckered feet and then a couple of straps that clip onto the edge of the bootlid to hold it on.

Ok, so things have moved on slightly from what I described, but the key point is still the same - the whole load is taken by the boot lid.

They are steel bootlids.......

I would be very cautious clipping anything to my f/g bootlid. Not saying it's impossible though...... scratchchin

And would need to keep the speed down too.

yes not something I would want to do without a few mods to the panel itself & the method of attachment to the windscreen/rear section.

If you are on your own your skis will fit inside the car. Drop the rear roof section down (leave the top in place), slide them into the passenger footwell and push the rear section back up again. My 184's fit no problem.

That seems to be a good idea !
In my old 911 I alwayd carried two pair of 180cm. skiis and a passenger inside.
Frankly I was not supposing that in the Chim there is enought room for the skiis inside.
Thank a lot.
