Metric or AF ?
Discussion
Unfortunately it's a combination of both, but mostly imperial. eg suspension bolts are 7/16 and 1/2 inch threads, the engine is mostly imperial, other bits and bobs are metric. I'd say keep an imperial set with you, a decent quality adjustable and decent mole grips and you'll be fine!

As I said before, you only need a roll of duck tape and a can of WD40.
If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duck tape.
If it won't move and it should, use the WD40.
Seriously though, I don't carry sockets and spanners but I do carry some elecrical connectors, screwdriver, wire and tape as the most likely breakdown issues are likely to be electrical

A small metric socket set, long nosed pliers and 1" adjustable spanner and a couple of screwdrivers will cover just about anything that you're going to fix at the side of the road. Obviously backed up by a generous supplies of fuses, electrical wire, duct tape, cable ties, hose clips etc.
Duck tape is a brand name. www.duckproducts.com/products/subcategory.asp?CatID=1&SubID=1

Hellfrauds sell a small emergency tool kit in a "leather" wallet, about the size of a phone book. It's got screwdrivers, pliers, a small 1/4" drive socket set, a couple of adjustables, insulation tape, probably plus some other stuff (it's been in the boot a *long* time). Add some electrical wire (enough to reach from one end of the car to the other) wire, cable ties and a big jubilee clip and you're done.
