One for the legal bods...is there any kind of support or counselling system for jurors that are affected or stressed by the details of the case that they have sat on? The problem is that by law the jurors have to keep stum so if they are stressed they cannot talk it out.

I suppose they could come on here and get told "stop being a goddamn p*ssy" if they ask nicely?

When my wife was juror at Lewes court a few years back, they gave her a number to call if she needed councelling after a child murder trial.

I wonder if Victims Support could help? A friend of mine does some voluntary work with them. Otherwise ask at the Court for details of anyone else that might help.

thanks for the helpful replies, my wife is really struggling having done a particularly horrible trial. She couldnt find anyone who was helpful. The parting words from the judge were not that useful, "shut the f*ck up".

YOu have got to be kidding? That was the judges response to a request for help from a Juror???? I assume that she will be reporting this?
My reply was obviously very facetious....apologies. I shall ask someone i know who WILL know what she can do and post later today

cheers

Just to be clear, that was not the judge's response to a specific request, but a general valedictory statement. My wife was too distressed and over-awed to even think of making a request like that to the judge.

I have since been in touch with HMCS at the court concerned and they only have one suggestion which is to contact a GP. not sure if you can get from there to a qualified counsellor, but it feels a long shot.

If you know of any avenues, then I would be very grateful.
