It just got me thinking, I know the M5's are fairly rapid, and to be honest would have me on the corners, but smiled when I kicked his butt on the straights....
I learned a salutory lesson about such japery....when said car behind was actually an unmarked police car....even when the blue lights went on I couldn't work out what was happening!

I checked for the 3 aerials first, the guy did not look like plod, and to be honest, we kept reasonably within the speed limit anyway. I would not usually lower myself to such things but as he was driving 3" off my back bumper I had to show him British was best....
I did the same the other weekend in my 500 to an RS4 and an FQ evo
the evo was easy but the RS4 put up a good fight i only bottled it when it started to rain
very scarey at double the national limit. Some time ago coming home from London on the motorway in my company barge following a saab he refused to move out of the fast lane untill i was showing 130mph then he moved and came in behind me and put on the blue flashing light in the grill
i felt
, so i slowed down and pulled over and he went past and carried on

Don't know if it is just me, but my 450 just does not seem as fast as it was. I wonder if I am just getting used to it. Had a bit of fun with an BMW M5 last night and it took a bit of shaking off. Any ideas?
You will get used to it. But every now and again you will exit a roundabout or approach a slip road, accelerate, and then look in the mirror to see the car who was once up your exhaust pipe a hundred foot behind....
I had a DB9 keep up with me the other day, but then it was 30-60 and I left her in 3rd.

Yep, You will struggle to shake off an M5

Actually no you won't if you have full power output from both banks. I've done M5s and I know they can't hold a candle to a well set up 450/500. There's something up. Either you have a problem on the induction side (fuel/air delivery) or the ignition phase is suffering from weak spark in one or more cylinders (sub-par HT lead, coil, plug leads, extenders, plugs). It could even be a partially blocked exhaust, but something is stopping your engine breathing correctly and giving you the power potential that will blow away lumbering beast like M5s.
