I have a 2001 Mark 1 Tuscan running 18" spyders. What are the best tyres to put on it, I have the Toyos on it at the moment but they seem to tramline a bit. Think the profile is about 35. Heard the dealer say something about putting 40 profile tyres on!!

HELP!!!

I have Goodyear's on mine and they do seem to tramline less than the Toyos on my previous Tuscan, although it could be wheel alingment or suspension set up which makes the difference.

Yeah I saw someone on here that got their geometry set up cause it was well out even out of the factory! where do you get things like that done is it a dealer job??

Was it the larger profile tyres you had on??

The Goodyears are 255/35 which are standard on the Tuscan S. Previous Tuscan had Toyos 235/40 on the front 245/40 on the rear.

I have recently changed from Bridgestone SO-2s, (225/35 front and 255/35 rear), to Toyo T1Rs, (235/40 front and 245/40 rear). This is the same change that I believe the factory made some time in 2001.

The positives for me are: smoother ride, more confidence in front end with larger contact patch from wider front tyres, front tyres suit rim width better enabling rim protection bead to work and reduced 'pod shake' - I guess due to accurate balancing of new tyres. On a purely aesthetic note, the slightly higher sidewalls fillm the arches better IMHO.

Car is used daily so additional comfort and reduced thumping into potholes etc is worth more to me than any on-the-edge handling benefits.
