Agree entirely of course yes, Although this time that's what he said about a motorist......

Fast woman castigated as she is caught again

A chief constable has used his website blog to castigate a woman who was caught speeding - on her way to a speed-awareness course.

Richard Brunstrom, the head of north Wales police, described the hapless motorist as "a dangerous idiot".

Mrs A was caught travelling at 35mph in a 30mph zone in Abergele in May.

She was offered and accepted a speed-awareness course that took place in Aug 4.

She was on her way to the course when she passed through another speed trap in nearby Prestatyn.

Mr Brunstrom says in his blog that the course notes had reminded Mrs A to ensure that "sufficient time is allowed for the journey".

"Almost impossible to believe, Mrs A was done for speeding on the A548 at Prestatyn, on her way to the course.

"At one level this is funny - it certainly made me smile -but at another it most certainly isn't. It's dangerous idiots like Mrs A who are still recklessly endangering the lives of others.

"Never forget that we are killing about 3,000 people a year on our roads and speeding is a major cause. So Mrs A, you will get the points and the fine this time, which you richly deserve. I strongly suggest that you change your behaviour before we get you banned - or far, far worse, you kill someone."

A recent Government report said failing to look properly was the major cause of accidents. Excessive speed was a contributory factor in only 15 per cent of all accidents and 26 per cent of fatal accidents.

Arthur Roberts, the head of a local pressure group, People for Proper Policing, rounded on Mr Brunstrom, saying: "It is time that MPs, councillors and even his police authority put a stop to all this nonsense. Who does he think he is to call someone a dangerous idiot?"

Is that right? I thought recent figures put this as low as 5%, and I think if you look for "excessive speed for the circumstances" AND "exceeding the speed limit" AND "otherwise law-abiding and sensible driver" it would be a lot lower than that. Now strike out the people who exceeded the speeded limit by a large margin, and how many accidents are you left with? Beggar all.

He very nearly hit the nail on the head... unfortunately I don't think he had the right "we" in mind.

If he had brains he would be dangerous. Sadly, just appears to be witless.

Perhaps we should ask him when his officers will be cleaning the hospitals to ensure the 5000 (minimum figures, so 50% higher than motoring deaths) deaths from MRSA will be prevented.

This guy should have been dealt with years ago, he was unbearable to work with and promoted out of the way. I hope he stands as an object lesson in shirking responsibilities.

I'm sorry, but this thread is appalling. Referring to Chief Constable Brunstrom as an idiot is a disgrace.

I mean, "idiot" hardly covers it all does it ? It's like saying Hitler "didn't like Jews much".

Godwin. Bu**er.

The usual revenue trap site at Prestatyn is when Arrive Deprived are parked in a side road at the end of a 400 yd stretch of straight road with no houses and a ludicrous 30 mph limit.

Folks usually get done when they speed up a few yards too soon just before a national limit sign, still on the long straight.

Careful, threads have had to be closed for comments like this, true or otherwise.

Irrespective of said person being an idiot or not, let's not give any ammunition to the people who just love to take offence for no reason.

Perhaps if the lady had been pulled the first time by a real cop.. then she may have been given the Speed Awareness or COAST advice she needed.

But in any case.. hiding behind hedges - pinging people as they near a faster speed limit ist hardly "saving any lives" in any case. It reflects rather on real reason .. cash.. und it Brainstorm's case - blogging or rather blagging... rolleyes

By the way .. I thought a CC had better thing to do with his time.. like deplying his cops to cop yobs, burglars und hard drug dealers und people traffickers .. not to mention all them terrorists.

Und by the way.. as I recall - his own daughter speeded TWICE during her proabationary perriod way over speed limit - it was 10 mph above on each occasion.

He used the excuse that "civilian journalists copped her" This seem to be at odds with lieben von in another thread here. - the one which say he had visit from police after civilian reported him for something or other. rolleyes I do not see then the difference .. rolleyes

However, given the attitude .. und the quest of public self pat on his back.. I would have taken her car keys und taken her name of the family policy und made a big PR thing about it. But no.. what ist good for gander does not apply to Dick's geese - und he even had the brazen cheek to say "she had not killed anyone" at the time. ranting (appeared in Welsh local rag at the time)

Und then there was the time when he parked his car und trailer ilegally und blocked a neighbour as he had just trimmed his hedges too. rolleyes (Also leapt on by tabloid press at the time...)

I wonder if Brunstrom has read the Mail, I'd like to see his reaction to the sudden realisation that his obsessive zeal for these things is merely supporting a massive scam.

It's quite depressing.

In the private sector it's easy to get rid of someone who is underperforming or who is harmful to the organisation.

In the public sector it's nearly impossible...so they seem to promote them!
