I'm looking to increase my octane to 96/97 from the bog standard 95 ... There's no higher RON available in Ireland.

Does anyone has anything positive (or negative) to say about the millers booster?

.. Any truth to the rumour that it increases manganese coatings on the engines innards??

TBH I'm slow to start pouring a bottle of 'what not' into my petrol tank 'til I've a fair grasp of the ins and outs of the product....

I understand that the product contains MMT (methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl), which has octane improving and valve seat protecting properties.

Some studies record concerns over the neurotoxicity of manganese, and some suggest that MMT may promote failure of onboard diagnostic sensors.

If you're concerned about MMT, you may want to request a Material Safety Data Sheet for the product. Alternatively, there are other octane boosters available that don't rely on this technology.

Hope this helps...

Sorry to resurrect an old topic .. I got talking to a Shell Ireland guru today , and he has confirmed that the highest octane available in S. Ireland at the moment is 95 ron.
The government have excised it out of existence ranting
