What does a slipping clutch feel like?

My 996 has started shuddering when you do up hills and at idle the revs are up and down, i think its the clutch however ive never had a car long enought to ever have clutch problems.

If this is a slipping clutch, can you do any damage by driving it? Plus does anyone how how much an OPC will chanrge for a new clutch?

Cheers

Hello

If it is a clutch then an opc will charge you approx ...

£360 for parts and £600 for labour plus v.a.t

Why would you take it there ?

Take it to a specialist who will do 1 for less.

I do them for £550 plus v.a.t

Your revs going up and down does not indicate a clutch issue on idle sounds like a misfire/vario cam issue or maybe a air leak/air mass sensor.

Could be alot of things, get it checked by a good independant specialist with the right dealer diagnostic machine 90% of porsche specialists have them now.

sounds like MAF Sensor, mine did it too until I had it changed, free from OPC if you have the warranty.

as for the slipping, not sure sounds like it could well be the clutch also on its way out.
