Hello everybody,

Here a question from the Netherlands. I am about to buy a 1999 Chimaera 450 in the beautiful color Iris Blue with magnolia hide. For my height (1.97 mtr) the Chimaera is perfect to find a reasonably comfortable position in the drivers seat. But for my wife (1.71 mtr) she found it impossible to find a comfortable position. She needs to forward the seat at its max to reach and operate the clutch and therefor is stuck with her knees to the dash / steering column. This with the wheel in highest position.

As my wife's height is quite standard, I wonder if any of you has found a solution to this problem. Perhaps lowering the drivers seat??

Looking forward to your kind advice.

Greetings from the Netherlands,

Hans

The pedals are adjustable, and you can get more adjustment from a set of pedals from Leven if necessary.

Thanks, but I need to find a flexible solution, so that both mrs and myself can drive the Chim.

I think the best thing you will be able to do is to extend out the pedals so you're wife can drive it and alter your own driving position.

Hmmm... I'm a little perplexed as to why she's struggling to find a comfortable driving position because I'm 1.74m (with long legs/short body) and the driver's seat is well forward yet I do not have the same problem as your wife does with her knees etc.

Looking at the drivers seat again it is clearly noticable that the front end of the seat is tilted. The co-drivers seat is not. Perhaps lowering the drivers seat gives more room and together with adjusting the clutch (slightly forwarding) gives the right result. All comments are highly appreciated.

What seats does your intended car have fitted - there are different seats in different cars - mine is one of the very last 450's cars and the factory fitted cerbera seats which I find more difficult to adjust.

It has the original 1999 seats. Not the seats of the Cerbera installed after the last facelift.

Problem solved. At the TVR importer we adjusted the pedals and at the same time took the drivers seat uot and reduced the incline of the seat (lowering the front) by removing washers.

Excellent result. Thanks for your kind advise. Looking forward making a trip to the UK in my LHD Chimaera.

Are the washers at the front of the seat mounting standard?

I am not sure whether they are standard. I will be at the importers premises in a couple of days and I will ask for you.

Anyway, the job taking seat out, removing washers and installing (including a good hoovering) took no more then 20 minutes.

Same problem with my missus. I am 6'4 and she is 5'4. She wanted a go for the first time yesterday and couldn't press the clutch in at all. It is either going to be big shoes or some sort of cushion me thinks. Not going to mess with the pedals.
