That cerbera moment....

HAvent driven my cerb much for last month or so....
OUt in her this evening for a little blast - perfect cerb weather (dark, clear, dry, cool evening)
I love it when the car gives me such a smile.
Sorry to all TVR owners for giving us a bad name as I popped n banged down Guildfords North St and as I popped the back out round the bottom corner of same st.
What a fantastic car - who would want anything else!

Had a few drinks, hic and was talking over the day with the wife while we toasted marsh mellows on the patio heater. I drove the cerb to our new barn and I followed her back when I drove back home in the voyager with my daughter. Just a perfect day really, the joy of the driving the cerb and the joy of watching it driving in front of me. Not much gets better really and it puts life into perspective...I'm in a good mood.
I drove for two hours today to Dorchester to pick up a pair of alloy wheels for my son's car, which fitted easily in the boot. Which other sports car could do that.
Then took my Son to Monkey world (lots of admiring looks in the carpark) and on the way back both wife and son fell asleep (cerbera snooze with the warmth?) despite the fact I wasn't hanging around.
197 miles, 22mpg and a huge grin and fun there and back.
That was a good taster for our trip to the lakes in a weeks time. That's about a 4 hour journey each way.

I very rarely get to drive the Cerb, usually only when the opportunity rises on track/ *ahem* private land, like last weekend.
Im still smiling just thinking about it, I probably drove it about 800metres... and as it was already warm from the trip up to TCS, I really enjoyed every rpm in first and had to calm down a little in second on the shortish straight. Im still buzzing from the thought of it all actually - its that kind of car. It absolutely flew despite a brief chirp of the tyres in first (and I wasnt going easy on the throttle) it just hooked up and fired forwards at a rate that even I wasnt expecting. Amazing how clearly you can remember every touch of the controls, every sensation through the seat and steering wheel and the exact noise, undiluted - even days later.
I agree Gazzab, who could want more? Can't wait to pick it up again and just stare at it.
The only car that I can think of on similar terms is alot pricier - and has a terrible interior/ LHD only/ no where near as good looks... the Corvette Z06. Not sure it would ever feel as special as the Cerb though!

About 100 miles last night and another 200 miles today.
Worked out I got 23 MPG.
I was impressed with that as some of the driving was "enthusiastic".
I've never had a car that got so many camera-phones into action (that could be partly down to the fact the camera-phone is only around a couple of years though) and I thoroughly enjoyed the day.
I actually got to drive a friends XK-8 for a few miles while he was in my car.
It's the first time I've had the chance to follow my car and it sounds good.
Now I'm all happy and I'm not as worried about the next mechanical woe probably looming just around the corner.
